What size is the hole?

Two millimetres bigger than the knob you type, so it slips over easily. Most round door knobs are 50–60 mm across; 55 mm is the default.

What is the slit for?

Lever handles cannot go through a round hole. The slit runs from the hole out to the side at 45°, so the hanger can be hooked over a lever. Turn it off for knob-only doors.

Printing it

Type your size above, then download the PDF.
Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.

How to put it together

These pictures are the door hanger itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.

Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
Try the first one
There is nothing to fold. Before you cut a stack, try the first one on what it is for and change the size above if it needs it.
Finish it
Cut out each hanger, the round hole and the slit. Print your message on both sides if you like. Slip it over the door knob, or open the slit to hook it over a lever handle.
