The napkin ring template, flat and folded
What this template is for
A napkin ring that locks shut with no glue: an arrow tab on one end pushes through a slit at the other, sized to the rolled napkin. Wedding, Christmas, Diwali and dinner-party tables.

Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the napkin ring itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Try the first one
There is nothing to fold. Before you cut a stack, try the first one on what it is for and change the size above if it needs it.
-
Finish it
Cut out the rings and the slit near one end of each. Roll the napkin, wrap the ring round it printed side out, and push the arrow through the slit from the outside, squeezing its points together; let go and it locks.
No glue needed.
Questions about the napkin ring
- How does it stay shut without glue?
- The arrow on one end is wider than the slit at the other, and its neck is narrower. Squeeze the arrow’s points together, push it through the slit from the outside and let go: the points open behind the slit and hold the band shut. At the default 40 mm band, the arrow is 24 mm across, the slit 18.5 mm and the neck 14 mm.
- What size should I make it?
- Roll a napkin the way you will set it and measure across the roll. The slit is one round of the ring from the arrow’s neck, so the locked ring is exactly that size inside, allowing for the card. The default fits a 45 mm roll and four rings print on one A4 or US Letter sheet.
- Can I print names on them?
- Yes. The band between the slit and the arrow is the visible outside of the ring, so a name, a monogram or a pattern printed there faces out. Use card of 200 to 250 gsm so it bends round without creasing.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the napkin ring. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
