The t-shirt box template, flat and folded

What this template is for
A box shaped like a T-shirt or sports jersey, with a T-shirt lid: round neck, short sleeves and a square hem. Team and fan gifts, Father's Day, sports parties and clothing-shop favours.
Also called t-shirt box · t-shirt shaped box · jersey box · shirt shaped favour box — all the same shape, and this is it.

Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the t-shirt box itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the steps never do. The names in capitals are the labels printed on the template.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
-
Step by step
- Cut out the BASE, the BOX WALL, and the LID and LID WALL if you set a lid.
- Crease the wall at either side of the neck, at the corners of each cuff and at the two corners of the hem.
- Glue the wall strip round the BASE, curving it round the shoulders and in round the neck and the armpits.
- Fold the tabs in, set the base on them and glue.
- Make the lid the same way.
Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let it dry before you use it.
Questions about the t-shirt box
Where does the wall fold?
At eight corners: either side of the neck, the two corners of each sleeve cuff and the two corners of the hem. Round the shoulders, the neck and the armpits it curves.
What size is the default box?
A T-shirt 100 mm from cuff to cuff and 100 mm tall, 30 mm deep with a 12 mm lid. It prints on two A4 or US Letter sheets.
Can it hold a real T-shirt?
A rolled or folded one in a bigger box, yes: set the width to 300 mm and the depth to 60 mm and print on A3 or bigger. For a flat shirt box, the two-piece box with lid is better.
