The sleigh box template, flat and folded

What this template is for
Santa's sleigh as an open treat box: two sides cut to the sleigh's profile, with a scrolled front and a runner, and one band for the floor, back and front. Christmas sweets, Secret Santa, table centrepieces and party favours.

Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the sleigh box itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the steps never do. The names in capitals are the labels printed on the template.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
-
Step by step
- Cut out both SIDE pieces, the BODY band and the slot above each runner.
- Crease the tab lines along both edges of the BODY.
- Glue the tabs along one edge of the BODY to the inside of a SIDE, from the top of the back, down, along the floor and up round the front scroll.
- Glue the other SIDE onto the tabs along the band’s other edge.
- Fill it with sweets from the open top.
Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let it dry before you use it.
Questions about the sleigh box
What size is it?
The default sleigh is 110 mm long, 60 mm high at the back and 60 mm wide, and the two sides and the band print on one A4 or US Letter sheet. A bigger sleigh’s band is printed in sections that glue end to end.
How is it put together?
The BODY band has tabs along both edges. It runs from the top of the back, down it, along the floor, up round the front and over the scroll; glue its tabs to the inside of one SIDE along that line, then glue the other side on. The top between the scroll and the back is left open to fill.
What are the slots for?
The slot above each runner shows the sleigh has runners, not a solid base, and lightens the side. Set the runner depth to 0 for a plain sleigh with no runners.
