Why are there no glue tabs?

Because a plain net is unambiguously right, and tabs are the part that looks correct on screen and then fails in your hands. Join the open edges with a strip of tape on the inside, or glue a narrow strip of card across each seam.

Why does the dodecahedron come as two pieces?

Twelve pentagons in one flat layout is far bigger than a sheet of A4, so it comes as two halves of six, taped together round the middle. Even split it is the largest of the five: at the 40 mm default the pair stands 336 mm tall, so drop to 33 mm for A4, or 31 mm for Letter, or print it on A3. Every other solid, the twenty-faced icosahedron included, comes as one piece.

How to put it together

These pictures are the polyhedron nets itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.

Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
Fold, glue and hold
Cut the outline, score and fold every dashed line, then join the open edges with tape on the inside, or glue a narrow strip of card across each seam. Fold every crease both ways first and the shape almost closes itself. The dodecahedron is the big one: over about 33 mm each half is too big for A4 or Letter and needs A3 or bigger paper, since one piece is never split across sheets.

Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let the box dry standing up.
