What this template is for
A heart-shaped box: the base, a strip that bends round its edge, and a lid that lifts off. Valentine gifts, wedding favours, keepsakes.

How to build it
- Type the size you need above, in millimetres, centimetres or inches.
- Download the PDF and print it at 100% — never “fit to page”.
- Cut every solid line and score every dashed line.
- Glue the wall strip into a loop round the base. Fold every little tab inwards, sit the base on them and glue each tab down. The lid is the same job at a larger size.
Questions about the heart box
- How does a curved box hold its shape?
- The wall is a long strip that bends round the base. A comb of little tabs along its bottom edge folds inwards, and the base is glued on top of them, which locks the curve in place.
- What card should I use?
- Thin card of about 250 gsm. Anything stiffer will not follow the curve, and paper on its own is too floppy to stand up.
- How do I get the wall to bend smoothly?
- Pull the strip over a table edge, or curl it round a bottle first, before you glue anything. Card that has been persuaded to curve behaves much better than card you are fighting.
