How to put it together

These pictures are the box with dividers itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the steps never do. The names in capitals are the labels printed on the template.

Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
Step by step
1. Cut out the BASE, the LID if you set one, and every LENGTH and ACROSS strip with its slots.
2. Fold the base walls up and glue its corner tabs. Make the lid the same way.
3. Stand the LENGTH strips in the base, slots upwards.
4. Push each ACROSS strip down onto them, slots downwards, until the grid sits flat on the floor. No glue: the strips hold one another.
5. Put the lid on.

Questions about the box with dividers

Why do I type the cell size and not the box size?

Because the cell is the number you actually know. A truffle is about 30 mm across; how long the box must be once two boards stand between three of them is arithmetic, so the tool does it: cells times their size, plus one board thickness for every divider, plus a little clearance so the grid drops in. The box size it worked out is shown under the drawing.

How do the dividers hold together?

They egg-crate. The strips that run along the length are slotted up from their bottom edge and the ones across are slotted down from their top edge, each halfway, so they slide into one another and all of them stand on the floor. Nothing on the grid is glued — only the corner tabs of the base and the lid.

Will it print on one sheet?

Yes, at the size it opens with: six 30 mm cells, base, lid and every divider fit on one sheet of about 136 by 264 mm, which clears both A4 and US Letter. Ask for more or bigger cells and it will outgrow the page; the tool warns you, and you can print the base and lid on a second sheet.

What board should I use?

Card of 250 to 350 gsm for chocolates and small gifts. Set the material thickness to what you are really cutting: the slots are cut that much wider plus a working clearance, and the box grows by one thickness for every divider. For food, use food-safe board or line each cell with a paper cup.
