Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the paper snowflake itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Try the first one
There is nothing to fold. Before you cut a stack, try the first one on what it is for and change the size above if it needs it.
-
Finish it
Cut out the star in the middle and the hanging hole first, then cut round the outline, branch by branch. Thread a loop of cotton or fishing line through the hole. For a garland, print several and tie them along a string. White or glitter card both work; silver pen on the edges makes it sparkle.
No glue needed.
Questions about the paper snowflake
- Why cut it flat instead of folding the paper?
- A folded-and-snipped snowflake comes out different every time and only works in thin paper. This one is drawn whole, so it can be cut from card that stays flat on a tree or a window, and every one in a garland matches. Each branch is cut short 2 mm before the line halfway to the next arm, so the gap between two branches is never under 4 mm and scissors can still get in.
- What size is the default snowflake?
- 150 mm across with 10 mm arms, three branches on each arm, a 20 mm star in the middle and a 4 mm hanging hole. It prints on one A4 or US Letter sheet; set the number of snowflakes higher to fill the sheet with smaller ones for a garland.
- Can I cut it on a Cricut or laser cutter?
- Yes. Download the SVG or DXF: the outline, the star and the hole are cut lines with no folds. If a hanging hole is too big for a small snowflake, the tool narrows it, or leaves it out, and says so.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the paper snowflake. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
