Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the paper angel itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
-
Fold, glue and hold
Cut out every piece. Roll the BODY into a cone and glue the tab under the far edge. Push the HEAD's neck into the hole at the top of the cone and glue it. Fold nothing: glue the WINGS flat across the back of the cone by the GLUE strip, just under the head, and glue the halo behind the head. For a tree topper, leave the cone open at the bottom.
Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let it dry before you use it.
Questions about the paper angel
- How tall is the angel?
- The height you set, from the bottom of the skirt to the top of the head. The tool sizes the cone so that with the head pushed into its top the angel stands exactly that tall. The default angel is 120 mm tall with a 70 mm skirt, and every piece prints on one A4 or US Letter sheet.
- How does the head stay on?
- The top of the cone is cut open, and the head has a neck a little narrower than that opening. Push the neck into the cone and put a dot of glue on it. The opening is always at least 7 mm across, so the neck is never too thin to handle.
- Can I put it on top of the tree?
- Yes. Leave the cone open at the bottom and it sits over the top branch. For a big tree, set the height to 200 mm or more and use card of 250 gsm or thicker so the cone keeps its shape.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the paper angel. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
