Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the paper wreath itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
-
Fold, glue and hold
Cut out the ring and all the leaves. Crease each leaf down its middle line so it stands up a little. Glue the leaves round the ring in one direction, each leaf's base on the ring and its tip pointing out, each one covering about a third of the last. Add a bow on top and a loop of ribbon behind to hang it.
Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let it dry before you use it.
Questions about the paper wreath
- How many leaves does it need?
- Enough to go round the outside of the ring with each leaf covering about 30% of the one before, and the tool works the number out for you. The default 200 mm wreath with 50 mm leaves has a 165 mm ring and 36 leaves; it prints on two A4 or US Letter sheets.
- How big does the wreath come out?
- About the size you set. The ring’s outer edge sits about a third of a leaf in from the wreath’s edge, so the leaves, glued round it at a slant with their bases on the ring, bring it out to about that size. Leaves are kept to under a third of the wreath across, so they do not fill the hole in the middle, and the hole is always at least 30 mm across.
- Can I make a big door wreath?
- Yes. A ring wider than the paper prints in arcs with a glue tab on each, which lap together into one ring. Use thicker card, 250 to 300 gsm, for the ring of a big wreath, and paper or thin card for the leaves.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the paper wreath. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
