Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the paper pumpkin itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Try the first one
There is nothing to fold. Before you cut a stack, try the first one on what it is for and change the size above if it needs it.
-
Join and hold
Cut out the strips and punch the holes. Stack them through the holes at one end on a brad (split pin) or a ribbon, then bring the other ends up and stack them the same way, so the strips bow out. Spread them evenly round. Roll the STEM into a tube and glue it on top with the LEAF.
Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let it dry before you use it.
Questions about the paper pumpkin
- How long are the strips?
- From hole to hole, half the pumpkin’s round: pi times the diameter, halved. Stacked at both ends, each strip bows out into half a circle from the top to the bottom.
- How wide can the strips be?
- Up to the pumpkin’s middle round shared between the strips, so they just meet at the widest point. Wider would make them overlap; the tool narrows them and says so.
- What holds it together?
- A brad (split pin) through the holes at each end, or a ribbon tied through them. Glue works too: dab each end onto the last.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the paper pumpkin. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
