The chest of drawers template, flat and folded
What this template is for
A little chest of drawers: a case open at the front, one to four drawers with a finger notch, and shelves that stand on their own legs between them. Desk, craft and jewellery organisers, and doll's house furniture.

Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the chest of drawers itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
-
Fold, glue and hold
Glue the case into a tube with the lap inside the TOP. Fold the side back flaps in, then the TOP and BOTTOM flaps over them, and glue. Build each drawer like a tray. Fold the legs of each SHELF down, stand the first one on the floor of the case and the next on top of it, and glue the legs to the sides. Slide the drawers in.
Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let it dry before you use it.
Questions about the chest of drawers
- What size is the case?
- You give the size of the drawer, and the case is worked out round it: each slot is the drawer plus two board thicknesses each way plus the clearance. At the default, two drawers 55 × 45 × 20 mm on 0.5 mm card, the case is about 48 mm wide, 44 mm tall and 58 mm deep inside, and the whole set prints on one A4 or US Letter sheet.
- How do the shelves stay at the right height?
- Each shelf is a deck on two legs exactly one slot tall. Stand the first one on the floor of the case and the next one on top of it, and every shelf is at the right height without measuring. Glue the legs to the inside of the case so they do not move when a drawer is pulled.
- How many drawers can it have?
- One to four. More than four stacked in one tall case of card bows in the middle and the drawers start to stick. For more storage, make several chests and glue them side by side or on top of each other.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the chest of drawers. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
