The origami cup template, flat and folded
What this template is for

Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the origami cup itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
-
Fold, glue and hold
Cut out the square, printed side down. Fold on the lines in the order of their numbers: 1 in half on the diagonal; 2 one bottom corner across to the opposite edge; 3 the other corner across the same way; 4 the front top flap down into the pocket in front, and the back flap down behind. Squeeze the sides to open the cup.
Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let the box dry standing up.
Questions about the origami cup
- Will it hold water?
- For a minute or two on plain paper. Waxed paper, baking paper or coated paper holds a drink much longer.
- How big is the cup?
- Folded flat, the rim is about 0.59 times the square’s side and the cup is about 0.41 times it deep, with a narrow flat bottom: a 180 mm square makes a cup about 105 mm across the rim, 75 mm deep and 44 mm across the bottom.
- How is it different from the paper cup template?
- The paper cup template is a rolled, glued cup with a flat base. This one is folded from one uncut square with no glue, the way it is done in origami.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the origami cup. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
