What this template is for

Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the cupcake topper itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Try the first one
There is nothing to fold. Before you cut a stack, try the first one on what it is for and change the size above if it needs it.
-
Finish it
Print your names, numbers or pictures on the toppers, then cut them out and cut the two slits in each. Push a toothpick up through the lower slit from the back, over the front and back down through the upper slit, so the topper sits on the stick. Push the stick into the cake.
No glue needed.
Questions about the cupcake topper
- How does the stick hold without glue?
- There are two short slits, one above the other, each a millimetre longer than the stick is wide. Push the stick up through the lower slit from the back, across the front, and back down through the upper one: the topper sits on the stick and cannot spin.
- What size are the toppers?
- The default is 50 mm across, scalloped, for a 3 mm toothpick, and twelve print on one A4 or US Letter sheet. Make them 40 to 60 mm for cupcakes and 80 mm or more for a cake. Set the stick width for a lolly stick or a paper straw.
- What if the topper is too small?
- Every slit keeps at least 3 mm of card round it. When a small topper or a thick stick leaves no room for that, the slits are left off and the page says so: glue the stick to the back instead.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the cupcake topper. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
