The animal mask template, flat and folded

What this template is for
A half mask sized to the face: a cat, fox, bear or rabbit, or a plain masquerade mask, with eye holes as far apart as the eyes, a dip over the nose and holes for elastic. Parties, school plays, Halloween and dressing up.
Also called animal mask · paper mask template · cat mask · fox mask — all the same shape, and this is it.

Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the animal mask itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the steps never do. The names in capitals are the labels printed on the template.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Try the first one
There is nothing to fold. Before you cut a stack, try the first one on what it is for and change the size above if it needs it.
-
Step by step
- Colour or print the face, then cut out the MASK and its two eye holes.
- Pierce the two small holes at the sides with a pencil point.
- Thread thin elastic through both side holes, try the mask on, and knot the elastic to fit.
No glue needed.
Questions about the animal mask
What size should I make it?
Set the face width and the eye spacing, the distance between the middles of the pupils. About 52 mm suits a child and 62 mm an adult; a child’s face is about 130 mm across and an adult’s 150 mm. The default is 150 mm wide with eyes 62 mm apart, and the eye holes are 35 × 21 mm.
How do I wear it?
Thread thin round elastic through the two small holes at the sides, try it on and knot it to fit. The dip in the bottom edge sits over the nose. Card of 200 to 250 gsm holds its shape.
Can I colour it?
Yes. Print it plain and let children colour it in, or put your own design on it in the tool before you print. The ears are part of the outline, so a cat, fox, bear or rabbit is cut in one piece.
