The paper rosette template, flat and folded
What this template is for
A fan medallion: a pleated strip joined into a ring and pressed flat into a disc, with a round centre on each side to hold it. Backdrops, walls, party tables and award rosettes.

Printing it
- Type your size above, then download the PDF.
- Print at 100% — never “fit to page”, or every measurement comes out wrong.
- Too big for the paper? Pick your paper size and leave Fit the pieces to the page ticked: each piece gets its own place on a sheet and the PDF comes out with every page in it, nothing cut in half and nothing to tape.
How to put it together
These pictures are the paper rosette itself, not a generic diagram — change the measurements above and the template changes, but the three steps never do.
-
Cut the solid lines
Every solid line is a cut. Do the inside shapes first, while the sheet is still whole and easy to hold.
-
Score every dashed line
Dashed lines are folds. Score each one first — an empty ballpoint against a ruler — or the card cracks along the outside of the bend.
-
Fold, glue and hold
Crease every line, alternating — fold the first one way, the next the other, like a fan — all along the strip. Glue the end tab under the first pleat to close a ring. Lay it flat and press the middle down until the pleats fan into a disc, then glue the FRONT centre on top and the BACK centre underneath to hold it.
Glue: a glue stick for paper, white PVA on card — hold each seam thirty seconds, and let the box dry standing up.
Questions about the paper rosette
- How long is the strip?
- About 1.3 times the distance round the finished disc — the length that lets the pleats fan flat without fighting each other. A 160 mm rosette has a strip about 650 mm long, printed in sections that glue end to end.
- Which way do the folds go?
- Alternately: the first crease one way, the next the other, like a paper fan. Every pleat count is even, so the pattern carries on across the joins.
- Will it print at home?
- Yes. The 160 mm rosette it opens with prints on three A4 or US Letter sheets: the strip in three sections and the two centre discs.
Print your own design on it
Add a logo, photo or pattern in the panel on the left and drag it onto the paper rosette. It is trimmed to the cut outline, embedded properly in the PDF, and never leaves your computer — most free template sites hand you the outline and stop there. How printing your own design works.
